Description
2001 Custom 43’ Express designed by world renowned Naval Architect, Robert Ullberg of Ullberg Yacht Designs and built by Ricky Kilker of KT Yachts, now Kilker Boatworks. Robert is known for his design work on well known brands including Bayliss Boatworks, Garlington Yachts, Paul Mann and many more. Ricky brings a lifetime of experience including building the world famous G&S Yachts, out of Freeport, Florida.
After purchase in Florida she went through a partial refit in 2017, and now that she is on island, she still needs to be finished. She is truly a unique vessel that turns heads everywhere she goes.
Design and Construction:
This vessel was hull # 2 of two express style yachts built by KT Yachts, on the Florida gulf coast with an overall length of 43’ 6” and boasts a 14’ 6” beam with the Carolina style tumblehome and flare. The boat is fiberglass ATC foam cored construction, no wood. Decks are made with kevlar and carbon fiber for combined strength and light weight construction. The prop pocket hull design allows for a shallow draft of only 3' 6".
Exterior Layout:
The exterior bridge layout has ample L-shaped seating on both sides of the helm with a large cockpit and a very spacious bow, great for fishing or family fun. Teak Helm Pod with Palm Beach (Cable) Controls and Hydraulic Steering (dual stations). Comfortable (Marlin) Tower Seating with Fiberglass Buggy Top and Palm Beach Style Fiberglass Hard Top.
Interior Layout:
The interior includes a starboard side sofa that doubles as a bed. The forward stateroom is a upper/lower bunk layout, with insert for lower bed configuration. The galley is to port, including modern cabinetry with plenty of storage, double sink and corian countertop. The port side, mid-ship bathroom includes a stand up/sit down, separate shower stall and modern cabinetry.
Engine Room and Performance:
The engine room is spacious with easy access for engine and systems servicing. There is a sea chest for sea water systems and the vessel has an emergency engine raw water pickup system. With her rebuilt twin Cummins 450hp diesels, she cruises at a very economical 24 knots and tops out at 30 knots +/- trimmed out.
